The red carpet was in evidence as the crème de la crème of Kinross-shire’s high society dusted off their finest attire and congregated in The Windlestrae Hotel for the Andersons’ Annual Quiz night. Well maybe not, but almost 150 good folk turned out once again to support this great fun night and to raise a few pounds to boot. Hosted by the outstanding, and highly recommended, Quizzical ( Mike and Elaine Spain), the evening flew by with an excellent buffet from Windlestrae’s kitchen providing some much needed sustenance for those who were making the most of the bar service.
This year’s project was the Kinross High School Rock Challenge and an excellent presentation about this most worthwhile cause was given by Miss Stacy MacNab, Principal Teacher of Guidance at KHS and included a video of the group’s recent performance Happening Now, an 8 minute piece reflecting the struggle of innocent refugees from war torn Syria. A wonderful performance if you ever have the opportunity to see it.
On the night the Quiz winners with a near perfect 102 from a possible 110 points were the topically named ‘Can we play our joker yet?’ They certainly played their joker at the correct moment. An excellent team and very worthy winners setting a notable benchmark for future years.
Our proceeds from the night added to our own Rock Challenge (scaling Ben Nevis) gives us a running total of around £2500 which will help this outstanding local cause continue to put on high quality and polished performances.
Details of Global Rock Challenge and it’s ‘parent body’ the Be Your Best Foundation can be found here. http://www.bybf.co.uk/
There are too many to thank for the organisation that goes into such a great night but we would like to note our thanks to all the firms (mostly local) which supported us with vouchers, other raffle prizes and of course special thanks to Quizzical. We have listed the firms below.
Thank You from all The Team at Andersons

We are all aware of numerous on-line “estate agents” now operating throughout the country. We have also seen their glossy advertising campaigns claiming they are many thousands of pounds cheaper than High Street agents. Well some of them may charge marginally less but not nearly as much as they claim. Indeed many expect to be paid their fees whether they sell your property or not! We have had many sellers come to us a few months down the line with horror stories. (Always read the small print remains the best advice). Recently we inherited a property from an online agent. Fortunately the “offer” they had secured (“the very best that the market was offering”) fell apart when passed to their on-line conveyancers. On moving to Andersons another offer was negotiated which was more than £20,000 higher. Penny wise, pound foolish anyone? Don’t be caught out.

Seven members of the Andersons’ Team scaled Britain’s highest mountain on the 22nd July raising funds for this year’s local cause. Departing from Ben Nevis “base camp” around 9am the team arrived back just after 6pm dragging their aching bones and limbs to the finish line. The aches and pains however just added to the great sense of achievement rightly enjoyed by the whole team. The seven intrepid adventurers taking part were Lorna Miller, Campbell Watson, Stewart Baillie, Lorraine Henderson, Yvonne Pearson, Alexa Mewse and Donna Wright. A few squally showers apart good weather was enjoyed for the ascent and the team managed to get a selection of excellent photographs to commemorate the day. (A small selection can be viewed below.) To date the team have smashed their fund raising target and any donations can still be made at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/andersonsllp-KHSrockchallenge. Each year Andersons select a small local group to be the beneficiary of our fundraising efforts. Prior recipients include the Day Centre and Kinross After School Club. This year’s beneficiaries are the Rock Challenge Group at Kinross High and details of this worthwhile cause can be found at this link (http://www.rockchallenge.co.uk/). Other fund raising events this year have included a Bake Sale and our Annual Quiz will be held on 29th September in the Windlestrae Hotel. If you are interested in attending please contact our office. In the meantime the thinking caps are on to think of another challenge for next year. Another mountain adventure is not being considered!
